The Club runs a Radio Day every 4 weeks out with GB4HAM in the summer months if you would like to know more please email us for details
SARC won the original GB4FUN unit from RSGB and renamed it with the new call sign - GB4HAM Radio Communications Unit which suited it quite well to its function.This was used to promote Amateur Radio and was well known around the UK and in the USA . The GB4HAM (RCU) has now been converted and mounted on to a Heavy Truck Chassis and re-named with a new call sign GB4HAM (Radio Communications Unit). Transportation of the unit is now more stream lined , takes up less space and easier to handle.
The new GB4HAM (RCU) is now owned and run by Steve Webster M1ERS and is used to promote Amatuer Radio in general and also to promote both the Sheffield Amateur Radio Club SARC and the Sheffield D Star repeater group for GB7SF. The unit can be seen at events up and down the uk, We attend events to promote Amateur Radio to Scout Groups and schools and the public. The unit is fully fitted out for Radio media showing videos about amateur radio our live Stream shows our event and can be seen on our You Tube Channel under GB4HAM or Steve M1ERS, we also do live streaming from out events if you see us about please call for a chat
Steve runs various repeaters within the Sheffield Area.
Steve will be visiting various events around the UK which normally including Schools and scout Groups and would be very pleased to talk to you about the GB4HAM facilities and amateur radio in general. any one wishing to help with the communication unit when we are out on events your help would be welcomed to help us promote your hobby, the unit has a streaming channel on you tube also BATC if you would like to help when the unit is out promoting amateur radio you are more than welcome, to help with our streaming or working radio, talking to visitors, when they visit the unit. The unit we us for field day and events for all members to enjoy there hobby along with amateurs alike we are the only club in uk that has a unit like this> for promoting amateur radio The unit will be getting new Logos on the Cab to help promote Amateur Radio in the coming months
